Maryland Food Bank

North Point Builders was the Design-Build contractor for the Maryland Food Bank Offices. Every year, the Maryland Food Bank provides over 2,000 tons of food to organizations and individuals in Maryland with the mission to fight against hunger. The Maryland Food Bank primarily distributes products from their Central Office and Warehouse Facility in Halethorpe, Maryland. As the food bank program expanded, the main office and volunteer areas needed reconfiguring and updating to keep up with the facility’s activities.

North Point Builders partnered with the design team to develop schematic, design, and construction drawings that reflected the Maryland Food Bank vision. The main facility adds up to 90,000 square feet of offices and warehouse space. Three separate areas were renovated for this project. The renovation comprised of a two-story office, volunteer training area, network services area, and conference space.

What used to be a single floor office is now a two-story area for offices and volunteer training. Stepping into the main entrance, visitors and staff are greeted by a dramatic and colorful lobby. The ornate cornice work and added windows also contribute to the fresh and contemporary look of the building.

Within the existing office spaces, the conference rooms and waiting areas were renovated to incorporate an open-concept design to encourage collaboration in the work place.
